“The Corner Pitch: A Dream Fueled by Culture, Coffee, and Community”

Hi there,

My name is Ruth, and I’m the founder of The Corner Pitch! A space that’s more than just coffee and Conchas. It’s a piece of my story, my roots, and my purpose coming to life.

I came to Canada six years ago from Mexico with a suitcase full of dreams, a background in graphic design, a love for singing, and a deep craving — not just for delicious food but for connection, art, and a sense of belonging.

My family in Mexico ran a restaurant, and my great-grandfather was a baker, so in many ways, this was always in my blood. But starting over in a new country hasn’t been easy. There have been doors that opened and many that closed, but none of that has ever stopped me. If anything, it’s fueled me more.

I’ve always had a passion for art in every shape and form — design, music, film, food — and I believe we all carry something beautiful to share. That’s why The Corner Pitch isn’t just about selling baked goods or coffee. It’s about creating a safe, warm space where people can come as they are, share their passions, and maybe even find a bit of themselves in the process.

Whether you’re a dreamer, a creative, a newcomer trying to find your place, or someone just looking for a comforting piece of pan dulce, you’re welcome here.

As a queer, spiritual person, I’m still on my own journey of finding out who I am and what I’m meant to do. And I believe that The Corner Pitch can be a place for others to do the same — to express, explore, and feel safe being themselves.

While I’m still building up the funds to open a physical location in the Halifax–Dartmouth area, the journey starts now — with our online store and your support. You’ll find fresh, handmade Mexican baked goods, cozy coffee offerings, and eventually, even more: books, spiritual tools, creative kits, and a community space for pitches, performances, and passion projects.

This is just the beginning, and I hope you're as excited as I am to bring this dream to life — together.
